Rare Antique French Bath Taps

Rare Antique French Bath Taps

£3,245.00

Description: Rare large antique bath taps. This set originate from France and come with their original cast iron faux enameled marble back plate. The nickel plating on the taps has gently worn to reveal the brass underneath adding to their charm. The trompe l’oil faux marble is in a beautiful dark racing green with white and deep red veining. When the swan heads face forward the water is off, turned outwards 90 degrees turns the water on. The result is a stunning set of large antique bath taps, which create an amazing focal point for a bathroom. Each single tap weighs 1.85 kg and the back plate weighs 4.5 kg. Stamped DEPOSE on the reverse.

Condition: These taps are over 100 years old and will show signs of gentle surface wear. To try and maintain as much of the beautiful aged patina as possible they are carefully hand polished. These taps have been entirely refurbished inside and tested to mains water pressure. Bespoke brass adapter nuts have been engineered in the UK, therefore the taps are fully compatible with modern plumbing and ready to install. It is likely at some point that a soap tray was fixed to the centre of the back plate, as there are a couple of screw holes.
